Aylesbury Vale Concert Orchestra joins forces with the internationally acclaimed classical guitarist Xuefei Yang to bring a captivating afternoon of Spanish themed music.
Come on a journey to sunny Spain. Imagine the fiery flamenco dancers, the castanets and the heat of the afternoon sun. Experience the beguiling, alluring and captivating rhythms of Spain interpreted through the world’s best loved composers. From Bizet’s Carmen Suite No 1 to Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol, Chabrier’s España and Strauss’s Chachuca Galopp we promise an afternoon of unforgettable music.
This is a rare opportunity to see Xuefei Yang perform two guitar concertos. The first has been composed by Classic FM’s John Brunning especially for Xuefei. The Magna Carta inspires beautiful lyrical melodies to calm, relax and cleanse the soul. John Brunning himself will introduce his concerto.
In contrast, Rodrigo’s famous Concierto de Arunjuez captures Spanish romanticism at its best. Be transported to the gardens of Arunjuez – hear the birds, smell the flowers and enjoy a walk around the garden in this beautiful, inspiring music.
Xuefei Yang is acclaimed as one of the world’s finest classical guitarists. Classic FM named her as one of the 100 top classical musicians of our time. She has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Woman's Hour, the BBC Proms, and documentaries on BBC and China Central Television.
