Clarinettist and Artistic Director of this series, Anthony Friend is praised for his ‘delicious’ playing (The Times) and ‘liquid tone’ (Seen and Heard International). He joins the Solem Quartet in the second concert in this series of Spotlight Chamber Concerts. The Strad praises the quartet’s “persuasive playing…confident and assertive, with a richness to their sound and spot-on accuracy”. They perform Mendelssohn and Coleridge Taylor.

Spotlight Chamber Concerts brings some of the world’s finest classical musicians to Cecil Sharp House for its third series. With the audience seated in the dark and in the round, and dramatic lighting centred only on the performers, this series of outstanding concerts and recitals is the ideal place to focus solely on the immersive experience of live music.
