The Amber Trust is delighted to present an exciting and intimate opportunity to hear award-winning German-Japanese pianist Caterina Grewe perform at St Paul's School, Barnes on March 2, 2022.

Playing a mixed programme from some of her favourite German romantic composers, including Schumann, Brahms and Liszt, the Tokyo-born star is set to dazzle on her return to the Wathen Hall, having last performed at the venue in 2019.

Caterina's performances are recognised for their beauty, poetry, and temperament, paired with the depth and maturity in her interpretations. Her 2016 debut CD for KNS Classical, showcasing some of Schumann's most treasured and undiscovered works, was described by Gramophone Magazine as a 'fine disc' that featured 'playing full of character'.

Caterina's talents have been showcased throughout the UK, continental Europe, the US and Asia as a Steinway Artist. As well as her work being broadcast by the BBC, the NDR in Hamburg and France Musique in Paris, she has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Steinway Hall and Cadogan Hall in London, Mozartsaal in Salzburg, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Dublin National Concert Hall, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Bass Hall in Texas and the Rachmaninoff Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire.

Caterina has won numerous prizes including the Lyon International Piano Competition. The HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Rose Bowl was awarded to her by HRH the Prince of Wales for her outstanding achievements during her studies at the Royal College of Music (RCM) and more recently, she also won first prize at the 2018 Changhsa International Open Piano Competition in China.

Caterina studied at the Hamburg Conservatory, Chetham’s School of Music and at the RCM in 2013, under the tutelage of Professor Dmitri Alexeev - who remains a long-term mentor. Her association with the RCM continues to this day having been appointed a piano professor in April 2019.

The Amber Trust was founded in 1995 to help blind and partially sighted children across the UK who have a talent or love for music. Its aim is to help visually impaired children including those with additional disabilities, to have the best possible chance to meet their musical needs and aspirations and fulfil their potential.

The health and safety of everyone who visits this event remains our priority and we will follow the latest government covid-19 guidance. Please check our website for the latest in relation to this event.
