Mozart’s ever-popular Flute and Harp Concerto puts two of the Worthing Symphony Orchestra's regular players in the spotlight – flautist Monica McCarron and harpist Elizabeth Green. Monica McCarron was a multiple prizewinning student at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she made her concerto debut at London’s Barbican Hall with Thierry Fischer conducting. She has played guest principal flute with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, English National Opera, London Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Irish Chamber Orchestra and European Chamber Orchestra, amongst many others. In recent times Monica has particularly enjoyed invitations to guest in Scandinavia; playing principal flute with Bergen Philharmonic, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and the Arctic Philharmonic.
Elizabeth Green enjoys a successful career as an orchestral harpist performing with ensembles such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, English National Opera, London Mozart Players, London Philharmonic, London Concert Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Ballet, National Symphony Orchestra of Russia, London Chamber Orchestra and the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra. Recent highlights have included performing Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker with the Birmingham Royal Ballet last Christmas and a trip to Dubai with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in February.
