Louise Alder has become a firm favourite at Leeds Lieder. The Guardian described her and her duo partner Joseph Middleton as ‘classical song’s brightest artists’.Transcendental Mahler and the pioneering poetry of Emily Dickinson as set by Copland stand either side of the interval. Lines from the final song of our closing recital sum up Alder’s generosity as a performer perfectly: ‘I hope your troubles are few, All my good wishes go with you tonight.’ Could there be a better postlude for a Festival?!
