The London Mozart Players perform music by Elgar, Mozart and McDowall, and join tenor James Gilchrist and Ben Goldscheider in Britten’s haunting Serenade.

“Blow, bugle, blow, set the wild echoes flying!” When Benjamin Britten combined a tenor voice, a string orchestra and a horn in the raw; he discovered a fantastic new world – where old poems surge and toss on fresh sea breezes, and distant music echoes and rustles through the night. Tenor James Gilchrist and horn player Ben Goldscheider reweave those dreams tonight; the climax of a concert that opens with the summer downpour of Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro, and features Cecilia McDowall’s invigorating Off the Ground (premiered just last year) as well as the sheer joy of Mozart’s best-loved horn concerto
