  1. Sonata for violin and piano Op 6 - Erich Korngold
  2. Four Scenes from Childhood - Franz Waxman
  3. Divertimento from Le baiser de la fée (The Fairy's Kiss) - transcribed for violin and piano by Igor Stravinsky and Samuel Dushkin

Korngold was only 16 when he wrote his Violin Sonata - and note that this is Op. 6! Perhaps Waxman wasn't quite a child, but his delightful piece, written to celebrate the birth of Jascha Heifetz’s son Jay in 1948, clearly fits the bill. Stravinsky’s suite, selected from the music he composed for his ballet The Fairy’s Kiss, which is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy story The Ice Maiden, rounds off a refreshingly young-at-heart programme.
