Described as “phenomenal” (The Times) and “devastatingly beautiful” (Gramophone), Tenebrae is admired as much for the arresting atmosphere of its performances as for its astonishing technical skill and passionate communication of the music.

This varied programme of sacred music – from Poulenc’s penitential Lenten Motets to Bach’s joyful Cantata, Singet den Herrn – also features carefully chosen works by both Ukrainian and Russian composers which together provide an opportunity for reflection on the power of music to cross national and religious borders.
