  1. Incidental Music to Peer Gynt - Edvard Grieg

As part of Reading Children’s Festival 2022, Reading Symphony Orchestra invites you and your little ones to our Children’s Concert on Saturday 21 May 2022 at Reading Minster. We’ll be performing Grieg’s ‘Peer Gynt Suite’, with special narration by David Barrell. You’ll hear tales of Peer Gynt’s fantastical adventures, including him falling in love with a girl he’s not allowed to marry, running away to the mountains only to be caught by trolls, getting into a scrape with the troll king, escaping to far-flung climes and being shipwrecked on his way home to Norway many years later. Grieg’s music draws on the Norwegian folk tunes of his homeland. The music includes a gentle wake-up call with ‘Morning Mood’ and Peer Gynt tiptoeing to escape the trolls ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’. We’re very excited to bring you our first Children’s Concert since 2019!
