  4. Geistliches Lied Op 30 - Johannes Brahms

A concert of beautiful music in a magnificent setting. The Requiem, sung in German and with Brahms’s own piano 4 hands accompaniment, draws on texts from the Lutheran Bible, unlike many other religious works which use the Catholic liturgy. It is written for the living, to comfort the bereaved. Finzi’s anthem, inspired by hymns of St Thomas Aquinas, is a lively and beautiful celebration of the Eucharist.
