Members of the Musical and Amicable Society are joined by soprano Hannah Davey for an afternoon At Home with the Bach Family: a concert exploring music-making in the Bach household, with music composed by, known to, and played by Johann Sebastian Bach and his musical family.
Kate Fawcett and Martin Perkins revived the original Musical and Amicable Society, founded in Birmingham in 1762, as a collective of professional period-instrument specialist musicians and we are delighted to welcome them back to the Old Chapel Court Concerts.
Hannah Davey’s performances take her across the UK and Europe performing song recitals, oratorio, and orchestral concerts. Notable solo engagements include a UK tour of Bach with flautist Sir James Galway, a production of The Merchant of Venice at the Royal Shakespeare Company, regular performances with the Orchestra of St John’s including the ‘My Music’ series at Wigmore Hall, London, a song recital tour of Burgundy, France, and oratorio performances at many venues including St John’s Smith Square and King’s Place, London, Dorchester Abbey, Malmesbury Abbey, Tewkesbury Abbey, and her home town of Cheltenham. Recordings include Mozart Requiem with Orchestra of St John’s and William Hayes ‘The fall of Jericho’ with the Corelli Ensemble.
This concert was postponed from April 2022
