A programme of polyphony for travellers, wanderers, and the displaced. It features works by Renaissance composers who left their homelands to work elsewhere, either because of religious persecution or because the new country offered fresh opportunities! The programme ends with the pair of motets exchanged by Philipe de Monte and William Byrd which were a thinly veiled lament about Byrd's position as a Catholic composer in Protestant England.

This is the Brighton Consort's second programme under their new Music Director, Greg Skidmore. Greg is an eminent performer of Renaissance and baroque music, both as a solo baritone and as a regular performer in ensembles such as The Tallis Scholars, Ex Cathedra and I Fagiolini.

The concert is dedicated to the founder of Brighton Consort, Daphne Elston, who died in March.
