In kaleidoscopic colour is how Jyotsna Srikanth’s music is described as illuminating the South Indian Carnatic tradition. Her elastic expressivity revels in raga rotations as much as jamming in jazz, often marrying the two. Her album Call of Bangalore anchored her position as a ‘major instrumentalist of vision and imagination’ (fRoots) and ‘an extraordinary and versatile violinist’ (The Guardian). Hailing from Bangalore, Jyotsna is Europe’s foremost Indian violinist.

Approaching every musical interaction with an insatiable desire to collaborate and create new sounds and pathways, Jyotsna enjoys a demanding international career as an eminent solo musician. She has lent her talent to the film industry, playing on over two hundred South Indian cinematic soundtracks. Jyotsna is also the founder and curator of the London International Arts Festival (LIAF) and leads Dhruv Arts, a UK-based organisation promoting South Indian Carnatic music. In her career spanning 25 years Jyotsna has performed in all the major world music festivals across Europe.

This is part of the Tuned In London world music concert series.

An unlicensed bar serves snacks and drinks. Doors open at 6.30 and the church closes at 9pm.

N.B.: Although a transport strike has been announced, it is expected to affect national rail lines far more than the Tube lines on 23rd June. The Finnish Church is between Rotherhithe and Canada Water stations. The Overground is due to run a reduced service until 6.30pm only so alternative routes may need to be looked into after the performance ends at 9pm. Check the TFL website for latest updates. On-street parking in Albion Street is unrestricted after 6.30pm but be aware that traffic around the entrance to the Rotherhithe Tunnel can sometimes be slow.
