  1. Valses nobles et sentimentales - Maurice Ravel
  2. 24 Preludes Op 28 - Fryderyk Chopin

Described by Nicola Benedetti as “one of the finest musicians” she has played with, Petr Limonov is increasingly sought-after as a pianist worldwide. His programme tackles two of the greatest sets of works in the piano repertoire. Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales have been described as Viennese dances filtered through gallic eyes, the composer setting out to achieve even greater strength and sharpness than in his great Gaspard de la nuit. Chopin admired Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier as a monumental achievement and sought to emulate this in his own preludes. Each one is a masterpiece, finely crafted with harmonic, rhythmic and textural invention.
