  1. Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 - Johann Sebastian Bach

From the exuberance of the opening chorus - underscored with pulsating energy from the trumpets, drums and richly scored orchestra – to exquisite arias and chorales, Bach’s uplifting masterpiece tells the Christmas story with music of great joy and beauty. The ideal way to start your festive season.

This concert is performed with Ex Cathedra's period instrument orchestra to recreate the sound-world Bach knew. It is great music that the group particularly loves, past performances have enjoyed acclaim, and this promises to be a memorable occasion.

three hours of radiant purity” (Birmingham Post)

This will be a complete performance of the Christmas Oratorio, and the concert will end at approximately 7.15pm.
