  1. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major Op 77 - Johannes Brahms
  2. Symphony No 4 in F minor Op 36 - Pyotr Tchaikovsky

Our season bursts into life with strong emotions. Few composers captured life’s struggles as vividly as Tchaikovsky. ‘This is fate,’ he wrote in 1877 as he grappled with the opening notes of his fourth symphony, ‘it hangs above your head like the sword of Damocles.’ By the final pages, Tchaikovsky had found hope from despair. Maxim Vengerov joins Marios Papadopoulos for Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, with the showpiece Navarra thrown in for good measure. A season opener not to be missed.
