JS Bach: Mass in B minor | Halifax Choral Society

The Halifax Choral Society and 18th Century Sinfonia present JS Bach: Mass in B minor. The Mass in B minor is a highly technical, unique and emotive piece and the consecration of a whole life's work. Started in 1733 for "diplomatic" reasons, it was finished in the very last years of Bach's life, when he had already gone blind. This monumental work, and choral masterpiece is a synthesis of every stylistic and technical contribution the Cantor of Leipzig made to music.

This autumn performance is sung in a baroque pitch using authentic period instruments and is conducted by Philip Collin Artistic Director and Conductor of Halifax Choral Society.
