  5. Quintet for piano and winds in E flat Op 16 - Ludwig van Beethoven

A joyful showcase of Beethoven and more from the wind players of Ensemble 360. Beethoven’s Quintet for piano and wind is one of the great pieces in the wind repertoire, hugely enjoyable both to listen to and play. Danzi composed numerous wind quintets, and his knowledge of the instruments shines through in his melodic writing.

Inspired by Beethoven’s Quintet, Louise Farrenc’s Sextet adds the flute and is set in the style of a chamber concerto for piano and wind. A brilliant 19th century composer, she is now starting to achieve the recognition her outstanding music deserves.
