  1. A birthday greeting to celebrate the OPO's 25th Anniversary - John Rutter
  2. Concerto for violin and orchestra in E minor Op 64 - Felix Mendelssohn
  3. Symphony No 2 in D Op 73 - Johannes Brahms

The Oxford Philharmonic celebrate their 25th anniversary in style with a world premiere and Romantic era favourites.

Sweeping, soaring melodies from Mendelssohn and Brahms always make for an uplifting pairing, and coupled with a new piece by John Rutter, this is set to be a fanfare performance, befitting the Oxford Philharmonic’s Silver Jubilee.

After making their debut at the Barbican back in 1998, the Oxford Philharmonic have become known for bringing new and engaging interpretations to well-known works where no two performances are the same. Founder Marios Papadopoulos conducts this evening’s performance with Grammy Award-winning violinist Maxim Vengerov, a longstanding friend of the Oxford Philharmonic and its most regular guest artist.
