Join internationally-renowned harpist Harriet Adie in a festive recital celebrating the release of her debut solo CD, Christmastide. An accomplished soloist, chamber musician and composer, Harriet has broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and Classic FM, performed at the BRIT Awards, and worked with orchestras such as the Philharmonia and Northern Sinfonia. Her compositions and arrangements can be heard across the globe including in the US, Europe and Australia. Her 2017 arrangement of Shostakovich's Waltz no.2 for harp quartet went viral with over 6 million views to date!

In December this year, Harriet is delighted to be releasing her debut solo CD, 'Christmastide' on the MPR label. The CD features her own arrangements of traditional Christmas carols for solo harp. Harriet writes:

"Taking music already written and turning it into something with a current and sympathetic voice is a challenge that I have always relished, and each of these arrangements draws on my personal musical influences. Finding inspiration in everything from the golden age of musicals and jazz through to the folk music that defines rural England, and favourite composers such as Ravel and Rachmaninov, I have utilised the harp to bring forth the warmth of a winter fire, the crisp coldness of snowfall, the excitement of Christmas morning, and the joyful proclamation of Christ’s birth."

The concert will include music by Bach and Britten alongside Harriet’s stunning arrangements of traditional Christmas carols, performed on her golden Salvi electra harp.
