Vivaldi's Gloria and Handel's Coronation Anthems | Bristol Choral Society

Once more Bristol Choral Society strikes out into ‘new’ territory, under the baton of award-winning Hilary Campbell. Our Christmas concert in 2022 will offer you three of Handel’s Coronation Anthems, along with the fabulous Vivaldi Gloria. Handel’s ‘Zadok the Priest’, ‘Let thy hand be strengthened’ and ‘My heart is inditing’ were originally written in 1727 for the coronation of George II, and give us a real sense of history some three hundred years later, as we look towards a new King’s coronation in 2023. These will be followed by Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’, a joyful hymn of praise which never fails to uplift audiences.
