Welsh opera legend Sir Bryn Terfel sings Wagner, as our former Principal Conductor returns to London.

Terfel has chosen highlights from two of the roles that confirm his standing as one of today’s greatest Wagnerians – Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger and Wotan in the Ring Cycle. And our players get their share of the limelight in orchestral excerpts too.

Esa-Pekka Salonen served as our Principal Conductor for 13 years until 2021. He returns for the first time as Conductor Laureate, pairing Wagner with Bruckner’s magnificent and multi-faceted Symphony No 6. The last time he and the orchestra performed this piece together, The Times compared him to “a sculptor at work, shaping every phrase with care.”
