  1. Five Mystical Songs, for baritone and piano - Ralph Vaughan Williams
  2. The Lark Ascending - Ralph Vaughan Williams
  3. Symphony No 1, 'A Sea Symphony' - Ralph Vaughan Williams

Following the 150th anniversary celebrations in 2022 of Ralph Vaughan Williams's birth, this concert features three of his well-known works. Our main offering will be A Sea Symphony, a compelling work in which a choir is used throughout and is an integral part of the musical texture. The text comes from the American poet Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass.

The programme includes The Lark Ascending, a popular and evocative work, with solo violin played by the leader of the orchestra, Christian Halstead. Also featured will be Five Mystical Songs for baritone and piano.
