Look ahead to a bright new year and join Colchester Chamber Choir for a concert by candlelight in the beautiful and atmospheric surroundings of St Peter ad Vincula in Coggeshall.
A Restless World explores sacred music in England during the turbulent years of religious conflict following the Reformation. From the reign of Henry VIII through to James I, the programme features music by composers who struggled to keep up with the ever-changing religious and political scene.
Colchester Chamber Choir will be singing some of the finest compositions of the two giants, Tallis and Byrd, alongside masterworks by Gibbons, Kirbye, Parsons, Tomkins and Weelkes, and the two exiles, Dering and Philips, who fled to the Netherlands to escape persecution.
The concert has an interval when refreshments will be served.
