Carl Maria von Weber said of the overture to his opera Der Freischütz that it depicts the two central elements in the piece: "the life of the hunter and the rule of demonic powers". Webern's Im Sommerwind is an orchestral tone poem inspired by the beauty of the Carinthian landscape. Brückner's Symphony No 7 is perhaps his best known. Certainly it brought him great success.
