  1. Ein deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem) Op 45 - Johannes Brahms
  2. Geistliche Chormusik - Heinrich Schütz

What connection does an early 17th century German composer have with a mid 19th century German composer other than their nationality? When composing Ein Deutsches Requiem (a German Requiem) in the mid-19th century, Johannes Brahms studied the longest work written by his fellow German, Heinrich Schütz three hundred years previously, the Musikalische Exquiem.

To honour the connection, Thomas Tallis Society will perform Brahms's grandiose German Requiem (1868) along with three beautiful motets from Schütz’s Geistliche Choir Music (1648). Conducted by Eamonn Dougan, accompanied by St Paul’s Sinfonia and joined by soloists Naomi Quant (soprano) and Alex Bower-Brown (baritone).
