Korros Ensemble - Celebrating International Women's Day

In the first concert of the year for the Hennessey Brown Music concert series with Guildford Music Society, the Korros Ensemble will celebrate International Women’s Day in a programme featuring the trailblazing suffragette composer Ethel Smyth and contemporary figures Cheryl Frances-Hoad and Catrin Finch. Korros will also play music by the unjustly forgotten doyenne of the BBC Music Service, Elizabeth Poston, and the award-winning African-American composer Valerie Coleman. The Korros Ensemble was formed in 2001 by three students at the Royal Academy of Music to introduce something new and original to the chamber music world. We are delighted that a local poet, Alwyn Marriage, will recite some poetry between some of the pieces.
