This is the concert recording of the opening concert of Music at Oxford's Arvo Pärt .. and a Littlemore festival which took place on 18 November 2022.

Music at Oxford was honoured to welcome the Grammy award-winning Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir to our festival and to Oxford. The choir celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2021 and is ‘one of the 10 best choirs in the world’ (BBC Music Magazine).

The programme Da pacem, Domine (Give us peace) was performed by Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir under Tõnu Kaljuste for the first time this year on 7 May 2021, in the Estonian- Russian border city Narva.

The concert was part of the Tallinn/Narva Music Week and made an important statement about the war in Ukraine. In the Russian Orthodox Church Issanda Ülestõusmise peakirik – which opened its doors for the first time for the public concert – the audience experienced, through the music of Arvo Pärt, a moment of peace as a prayer or hope for the future. By bringing this programme to Oxford as the opening concert of our Arvo Pärt .. and a Littlemore festival and by releasing the recording on 24 February - Estonia's Independence Day and the year anniversary of the war in Ukraine - we hope the message for the need for peace is still heard.

The concert recording is available from Friday 24 February until 11:59pm on Thursday 23 March 2023.
