Join the City of Birmingham Choir for an exhilarating evening of music and spoken word with a refreshing programme of less well known but nonetheless wonderful music from both established and not so well-known composers, two of whom, we are happy to announce, are women.

The concert begins with Benjamin Britten’s dramatic work, The Company of Heaven, with spoken word, chorus and orchestra which will be followed by Cecilia McDowall’s Ave maris stella and the 20th century conductor, composer and violinist, Susan Spain-Dunk's exquisite Suite for Strings. The evening will finish with Gerald Finzi’s uplifting and stirring Magnificat.

We are also delighted to have Birmingham's young Poet Laureate, 16 year old Iona Mandal, join us for the Britten piece which is a heady mix of dramatic prose, music and poetry.
