  1. Concerto for violin, piano and strings in D minor - Felix Mendelssohn
  2. Symphony No 9 in D minor, 'Choral' Op 125 - Ludwig van Beethoven, transcribed for piano 4 hands by Franz Xaver Scharwenka

A joyous musical spectacle will bring together all the students of The Yehudi Menuhin School with celebrated YMS alumni and community partner the Music in Secondary Schools Trust. In the first half Alexander Sitkovetsky and Wu Qian join the School’s Junior Orchestra to perform Mendelssohn’s Concerto for piano, violin and strings, an enchanting work written when the composer was just 14 years old. After the interval we bring the festival to a close with Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 9 in an arrangement for two pianos and choir. Music Director Ashley Wass will take one of the piano parts alongside four YMS piano pupils who will each play a movement with the massed voices of the School’s choir and singers from MiSST secondary schools performing the magnificent final movement.
