Postcards from America | Rutland Sinfonia

We’re very much looking forward to performing our end of season concert with music from the Americas. From the Rodeo evoking Wild West films to the very gentle and calming Adagio used in the film Platoon and associated with 9/11 commemorations.

The toe tapping rhythms of dance in Libertango used in the film The Frantic, and Huapango, both used in the BBC Strictly Come Dancing. The iconic Rhapsody in Blue used in a number of films; Fantastia 2000, The Great Gatsby, Gremlins 2 and Glee, not forgetting its appearance in The Simpsons (like Adagio). The energizing Danzon No 2 was used in TVs Mozart in the Jungle and made famous at the BBC Proms with Dudamel Gustavo with the Simon Bolivar National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela in 2007.
