Diabolus in musica (The devil in music) has long been the stuff of musical legends; it is often used to refer to a particular chord that creates a dissonant sound. Join Paragon Singers for an evening exploring the powerful music of William Byrd, whose death 400 years ago we commemorate this year, through the lens of his use of dissonance. Tracing a lineage through the British affection for dissonant harmony, you'll also hear music from Byrd's contemporaries Tallis and Weelkes, right through to living composers. Expect sumptuous harmony, surprising musical twists and beautiful singing from one of Bath's most celebrated chamber choirs, in the stunning acoustics of St Alphege Church.
