The Rite of Spring caused a riot at its Paris premiere during the 1913 season of Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes company. In 1912 Stravinsky and Debussy played this four-hand version, the first published version, created to demonstrate the work to Diaghilev and conductor Pierre Monteux. This is a very rare opportunity to hear the four-hand version rather than the orchestral version.

Included in this concert is a world premiere by Paul Mealor written for John Frederick Hudson and Cyrill Ibrahim.

This concert is part of Jam on the Marsh festival, taking place from 4-16 July in Romney Marsh, Kent.
