This hour- ong concert marks the death of the great Elizabethan composer, William Byrd in 1623 and the birth, one hundred years later of the last great viola da gamba virtuoso of the 18th century, C F Abel, and includes the first of JS Bach’s three bold sonatas for the instrument.
