Cubaroque opens the Stoke Newington Early Music Festival this year in the atmospheric surroundings of the West Reservoir Centre. The concert offers a programme of Purcell, Monteverdi and Latin American Nueva Cancion composers performed by the wonderful tenor Nicholas Mulroy, accompanied on theorbo, baroque guitar and classical guitar by Toby Carr and Elizabeth Kenny. With the backdrop of evening sun over the water, this concert promises its audience a rare experience of tranquility in our busy metropolis.

Further evening events in the festival take place at the Old Church, Stoke Newington on Friday 23rd June - Passion and Passacaglia with Julia Bishop (baroque violin) and Paula Chateauneuf (theorbo) and Saturday 25th June - A Dance to the Music of Time with Mediva. The festival concludes on Tuesday 4th July at Newington Green Meeting House with Bach Great and Small: Ciara Hendrick (mezzo-soprano), Georgia Browne (baroque flute), Tom Foster, (chamber organ) and Kinga Gaborjani (violoncello piccolo). A concert for our younger listeners is provided on Friday 30th June, 11 am at the Old Church: Feargal Mostyn-Williams (countertenor), and Jonatan Bougt (lute), perform Elizabethan Lullabies for babies, pre-school children, their parents, grandparent and carers.
