  1. Overture, from Ruslan and Lyudmila - Mikhail Glinka
  2. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No 1 in G minor Op 26 - Max Bruch
  3. Symphony No 1 Op 47 - Peter Fender

We start with a piece of musical quicksilver, the irresistible and joyfully unrestrained overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila by Glinka, which has become his best known work. That is followed by the romantic, rich, alluring and enduring first violin concerto by Bruch (played by rising British violinist, Rosa Hartley), which is always near the top of the Classic FM chart! Finally a new symphony, by English composer and conductor Peter Fender: now dramatic and pungent, now lyrical and transparent, an experience.
