  1. Crouching Tiger Concerto, for cello and orchestra - Tan Dun
  2. Poème, for violin and orchestra Op 25 - Ernest Chausson
  3. Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso in A minor, for violin and orchestra Op 28 - Camille Saint-Saëns
  4. Fontane di Roma, 'Fountains of Rome' - Ottorino Respighi
  5. Pini di Roma, 'Pines of Rome' - Ottorino Respighi

After excerpts from Tan Dun’s celebrated and atmospheric Oscar-winning film score, two contrasting pieces for violin and orchestra from nineteenth-century France, the first slow and soulful, and the second sparkling and virtuosic.

The concert ends with two of Respighi’s spectacular Roman pieces for large orchestra – suites which give musical depictions of the sights, sounds, landmarks and history of Rome in a tour de force of orchestral colour and imagination.
