Raw passion and great tunes from Bizet, Tchaikovsky and Felix Klieser: horn player extraordinaire.

A whirl of strings, a blast of trumpets: when Richard Strauss’s Don Juan rockets into action, you can practically smell the aftershave. That is just the headlong, no-holds-barred opening to a whole evening of passion with RPO Principal Associate Conductor Alexander Shelley.

Tchaikovsky takes us to hell and back in Francesca da Rimini – a tempestuous tale of jealousy, torment and doomed love. Bizet conjures the heat of a Spanish summer, and the famous melodies of his opera Carmen promise sheer seduction.

The young Mozart has the time of his life in a horn concerto that simply bubbles over with elegant fun – performed today by Felix Klieser, a horn player who has become a byword for inspiration.
