  1. On Wenlock Edge - Ralph Vaughan Williams, arranged for voice and string quartet by Vanessa McNaught
    • From far, from eve and morning
    • Is my team ploughing?
  2. Erlkönig D 328 - Franz Schubert, arranged for voice and string quartet by Benjamin Wardhaugh
  3. A Wailing on the Wind, for string quartet and narrator - Ian Stephens

Get into the mood for All Hallows Eve with stories sung and spoken: Schubert's Erlkönig, Vaughan Williams's Is my team ploughing, and a wonderful piece combining words by masterful story-teller Liz Weir, and evocative music by Ian Stephens, A Wailing in the Wind. Drawing on the musical language of the times and places they are designed to evoke, whether Irish ballad or reel, or an American 1940s Big Band number, this is a gripping and entertaining spooky tale for all (ages 8+ recommended).

‘The wailing wind brings stories long whispered, but seldom heard. The banshee’s cry, a lost love, a tale to chill the blood. A boy learns family secrets that forge links between the past and present.’
