The Yehudi Menuhin School has always had a flourishing string orchestra. Yehudi Menuhin considered it as a vital part of the musical education offered to these exceptionally gifted young musicians, and he himself often directed the ensemble. It performs regularly at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland, and at festivals around the UK.

Oscar Colomina i Bosch was appointed Director of Music of The Yehudi Menuhin School from September 2017 and is also Professor of Orchestration at the Royal Academy of Music, Òscar is a sought-after composer and conductor who has guest conducted and lectured at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague – School for Young Talent and is part of the teaching faculty of the Akoesticum Talent Programme in Holland, alongside some of Europe’s leading chamber music specialists.

Cello soloists for the Vivaldi Concerto will be Pere Puertas Masferrer and Juliet Wolff
Viola solist for the Howells Elegy will be Otoha Tabata
