  1. Overture, from Egmont Op 84 - Ludwig van Beethoven
  2. Symphony No 1 in C Op 21 - Ludwig van Beethoven
  3. Serenade for Strings in E Op 22 - Antonín Dvorák
  4. Wind Serenade in D minor Op 44 - Antonín Dvorák

Our next concert teams Beethoven with Dvorák in a programme of spirited music ideal for a spring evening. ‘Egmont’ will give the concert a fine dramatic opening, but this is not a portentous programme. The two Dvorák Serenades each combine typical high-spirited Slavic dance rhythms with contrasted movements of dreamy relaxation. Beethoven’s first symphony is a cheerful and energetic work which bridges the worlds of Mozart and of the fully mature Beethoven’s later works. The concert is conducted by David Lardi.
