  1. Coriolan Overture Op 62 - Ludwig van Beethoven
  2. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Op 61 - Ludwig van Beethoven

The musical celebrations to mark Beethoven’s 250th anniversary year were put on hold with the arrival of covid-19, but online Classical Club members will be able to enjoy a late salute in November, when London Mozart Players performs Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and his stunning Violin Concerto.

The Overture was inspired by Heinrich von Collin’s play Coriolan, rather than Shakespeare’s tragedy, and the music expresses the moods in the story – Coriolan’s rebellious nature, and his mother’s pleading for mercy. Beethoven’s Violin Concerto is one of his most serene works, reflecting the composer’s relative personal happiness at the time. The revolutionary concerto takes us on a journey that’s different from any violin concerto that preceded it: from a lyrical first movement, to a larghetto second movement and finally, a joyous rambunctious finale. It’s a hugely satisfying masterpiece which we look forward to filming before a socially-distanced audience at St John’s Smith Square. We are delighted to introduce rising star and YCAT artist Jonian Ilias Kadesha as soloist for our final Classical Club concert of the series.

Enjoy the whole 8 concert series online via LMP’s Classical Club, tickets just £12 each or £50 for the full series if you book before 31 October (£60 thereafter).
