  1. Vessels, from the soundtrack to the film 'Koyaanisqatsi' - Philip Glass
  2. Glassworks - Philip Glass

Two of London’s most innovative musical organisations come together to present Colliding Worlds, in which old meets new and the natural world meets the challenges of 20th century humankind. The London Contemporary Orchestra under the direction of Robert Ames performs one of Philip Glass’s most loved masterpieces, Glassworks, composed in 1982 specially for the new and singularly private experience of the Walkman personal stereo. Glass’s Vessels, from the cult movie Koyaanisqatsi (meaning “life out of balance”) continues the theme, performed by VOCES8 and Apollo5 who also sing the world premiere of a new commission by Russian/British/Ghanaian composer and producer Afrodeutsche. The concert will include an arrangement by Robert Ames of Ascent, composed by the Oscar winning Hildur Guðnadóttir, that is included in VOCES8’s upcoming new album, Infinity.
