The 2020 Chamber Orchestra is proud to present ‘An American Summer’. Since its debut in 2018, the orchestra, originally made up of Cambridge University graduands, has been devoted to celebrating young performers and composers and creating an accessible space for classical music. Under the baton of director and founder Oliver Cope, the 2020 Chamber Orchestra is returning to the stage after months of uncertainty with an exhilarating programme of American and new music.

The programme opens with ‘Rhapsody in Red’, a new work by Andalusian composer Nacho Mañá which draws on Gershwin’s spectacular ‘Rhapsody in Blue’. Listen out for original jazz-trio cadenzas, a collaboration between Cope and piano soloist Lucy Walker . Copland’s atmospheric Appalachian Spring brings the concert to a close.

We are excited to welcome you to St Gabriel’s, Pimlico, on 31st July for an evening of dynamic music making.
