  1. Taras Bulba - Leoš Janácek
  2. Concerto for violin and orchestra Op 35 - Erich Korngold
  3. Symphony No 9 in E minor, 'From the New World' Op 95 - Antonín Dvorák

Acclaimed British violinist Chloë Hanslip performs Korngold’s Violin Concerto in a concert full of musical tales with snippets of film music, folk song and storytelling.

Korngold’s sweet and lyrical Violin Concerto shows the film music composer at his greatest powers, contrasted with Janácek’s dramatic retelling of Gogol’s Taras Bulba, a story of death and war.

Dvorák’s Ninth Symphony completes the evening with its trademark warmth and much-loved melodies.

Part of Zurich International Orchestra Series.
