Under the Influence | Orchestra of the Swan

Orchestra of the Swan (The Swan) are delighted to head back The Courtyard Hereford with acclaimed pianist Peter Donohoe and with the largest number of Swan Players appearing in one performance since before the pandemic. ‘Under the Influence’ features Peter Donohoe, who has been described as one of the “foremost pianists of our time”, will be joining The Swan to perform Ravel's breath-taking and concise Piano Concerto in G major, incorporating not only Basque but jazz influences.

Conducted by The Swan's Principle Conductor Michael Collins, the evening will kick off with 'The Wasps' Overture, composed by Vaughan Williams a year after studying orchestration with Ravel in Paris. Peter Donohoe, acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of our time, will join us to perform Ravel's breathtaking and concise Piano Concerto in G major, which incorporates not only Basque but jazz influences. The performance will finish with Vaughan Williams's Symphony No 5 in D, a gentle and melodic and uplifting piece.
