Saturday 18 June 6pm Paul Crew (oboe): Music for a Summer Evening
Saturday 25 June 6pm Lizzy Humphries (soprano): Songs of Love and Nature
Saturday 2 July 6pm Geoffrey Webber (organ): Fancies, Phantoms & Fantasies
Come and savour four midsummer’s early evenings at Petersham's ancient church, its historical beauty revived and enhanced by a major rebuilding programme shortly before the lockdown. We hope you will enjoy the wide variety of music at St Peter’s, and perhaps a glass of wine with us afterwards, in our Summer Saturdays concerts, each starting at 6 pm.
On Saturday 11 June we celebrate the Queen’s Birthday by welcoming the Petersham Consort, who will sing a selection of their favourite songs by composers including Handel, Purcell, Schubert, Brahms and Vaughan Williams. On Saturday 18 June, in a change to the published programme, we are delighted that Paul Crew will step in to perform an exciting programme of music, both classical and from the shows. On Saturday 25 June soprano Lizzy Humphries, a St Peter’s YouTube channel favourite, will sing songs of love and nature, from morning til night, across Europe, accompanied by James Gough, Assistant Organist at Southwark Cathedral. We end with a flourish on Saturday 2 July with Fancies, Phantoms & Fantasies, a celebration of the fantastical by recital organist Geoffrey Webber, Director of Music at St John-at-Hampstead, who will present a vivid and varied programme of music on the amazing St Peter's organ, installed just eleven years ago by builders St Martin from Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
