Samling Academy present a semi-staged concert of song and poetry inspired by the sea, including movements from Elgar’s much loved ‘Sea Pictures’. Telling stories of sailors and the lovers they’ve left behind, of fishing communities, mermaids and myths and with some traditional seaside fun thrown in, this programme is performed by a cast of the North East’s finest young classical singers.

The concert is directed by Samling Artists Miranda Wright and pianist Jo Ramadan who will also accompany our Academy Singers. Samling Academy is an intensive vocal training programme for singers aged 14 – 21 who live or study in North East England and many of its former participants have gone on to professional singing careers.
