Described as "natural singers, phrasing supplely and expressively" by Gramophone Magazine, the acclaimed Ferio Saxophone Quartet performs music from the Baroque to the present day.
“… only the glummest of historically informed pedants could object to hearing Purcell, Byrd or Handel played by a group as good as this.”
— Gramophone, Richard Bratby
The programme features music from ‘Revive’, their acclaimed 2018 album of Baroque transcriptions, by Purcell, Bach and Handel, as well as 20th-century works for saxophone quartet by Eugène Bozza and Hugo Reinhart.
They will also perform contemporary works by saxophonist-composer Guillermo Lago, including two of his Wordsworth Poems, commissioned specially by the Ferios for their debut commercial album ‘Flux’, released on Chandos Records in 2017.
U25s go free thanks to CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust.
This concert will run without an interval and last just over an hour.
