English mezzo-soprano Kitty Whately makes a welcome return to Leeds Lieder to celebrate the music of Vaughan Williams in his 150th anniversary year, performing his major cycle The House of Life, setting words by Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Juxtaposing this great work are selections from Vaughan Williams' pupils, highlighting the work of British twentieth-century female composers of art song.
